Washington Post Conspiracy Theory: Trump, Putin Poisoned Hillary Clinton

Up until the dramatic moment when Hillary Clinton prematurely left a memorial service marking the 15th anniversary of 9/11 in New York City and collapsed as aides pushed her into a van, the national media had steadfastly refused to address concerns about the Democratic presidential nominee’s health as anything but “conspiracy theories.”

In the blink of an eye on Sunday, media outlets like NBC News, the New York Times and the Washington Post were forced by the stunning video images of Clinton’s “fainting” episode to finally get real about her health woes.

Chris Cillizza, who writes the Washington Post’s political blog, “The Fix,” was blasting “conspiracy theorists” just a week before Clinton’s collapse:

“Beyond the Clinton conspiracy theorists who believe she had something to do with Vince Foster’s death and that she was secretly responsible for everything from Y2K to the SpaceX explosion last week, it’s hard to plausibly insist, based on the available data, that Clinton is ill,” Cillizza wrote.

But Cillizza was singing a different tune on Sunday when he wrote:

“Well, that is no longer operative. Context matters. A coughing episode is almost always just a coughing episode. But when coupled with Clinton’s ‘overheating’ on Sunday morning – with temperatures something short of sweltering – Clinton and her team simply need to say something about what happened (and why the press was in the dark for so long). Taking the Clinton team’s word for it on her health – in light of the episode on Sunday morning – is no longer enough. Reasonable people can – and will – have real questions about her health.”

Now the Washington Post is back on the “conspiracy” bandwagon, this time touting a Nigerian-born doctor’s theory Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump are together involved in a plot to poison Clinton, reported the Daily Caller.

Dr. Bennet Omalu, who is an expert on concussions, took to Twitter on Sunday to advise the Clinton campaign to “perform toxicologic analysis of Ms. Clinton’s blood. It is possible she is being poisoned.”

The newspaper’s headline read: “The man who discovered CTE thinks Hillary Clinton may have been poisoned.”

Reporter Cindy Boren heralded Omalu’s “credentials and tenacity” while also noting his “suggestion was greeted somewhat skeptically in the replies.”

“He wasn’t giving up on Twitter, adding that his reasoning is that he does not trust Russian President Vladimir Putin or Donald Trump, the Republican presidential nominee who has expressed admiration for Putin,” she wrote.

Boren’s reporting of Omalu’s theory comes just a week after Cillizza dismissed any questioning of Hillary’s health as the work of “conspiracy theorists.”

Boren also reminded readers of Putin’s alleged involvement in the poisoning death of a former KGB operative in London in 2006.
